Sometimes if you enter a promo code before selecting your movie, it will spend a minute processing then say "We are currently unable to process your promo code, please try again later." I got it to work by selecting the movie first, then at checkout hitting the "Add promo code" button.

Percent can be misleading, ie. 100% could be just 1 of 1.

That is what I use the highlighting system for. If a code has only been used once, it highlights in yellow. Green shows that it has been reported working recently and often.
If you want to see more details, you can click on the code, which shows the complete history of that code. It includes the raw counts, too.

Redbox may want to consider adding Price Chopper supermarket to the list of locations. They have an outdoor machine in Connecticut near my office.
Both video stores in my hometown closed recently so the Redbox machine in the local Stop and Shop supermarket has suddenly become extremely popular.

Also, having people re-type the code in a second text box for verification of accuracy will help to ensure that typos aren't submitted.

Great comments. I do want to avoid the turing test, because I just think they are annoying. I do have a system in place to prevent automated code spam, though.
I will be adding something soon that will alert the user if it is detected they are entering a new code, and require their confirmation. This should eliminate typos quite a bit.

An example is the monday-only code. I missed the cutoff by a minute!! A guy in front of me took forever picking a movie at midnight and I missed out. But people are still posting that they used the code effectively on Tuesday and Wednesday. Whats the deal?
I'm thinking it is error on the part of the person posting it here, not on the redbox end. What do you think?

The answer is yes, for a while, several codes would give 5 movies per credit/visa debit card. If I remember correctly, BREAKROOM, DVDONME were the only ones. But both have now been limited to 1 freebie per card. SERIES also gave 3 freebies per card for a time till it was disabled.
I have yet to find another code that gives more then 1 but should anyone find another multiple freebie code please let us know.

Fred, sorry bud No disrespect intended.. but might as well get used to it.. with digital age in full swing finding a "Zoomed in" movie (aka full screen) that cuts off 1/2 the movie will become increasingly difficult to find.
I just recently broke down and purchased several new Wide screen HDTVs, and now appreciate the Wide screen format and wouldn't go back to "Zoomed in" movies even if I was paid

All Redbox machines and locations are corporate owned.

150 people may have gotten their card info stolen.
Before sliding your card/s into a kiosk,make sure it doesn't have a weird looking contraption at the top of the normal card reader.

It's been awhile since i've gotten any promo codes to
work at all around here unless it's a new card and I use the codes I already knew!! :)

Alvin14 still working for me in Ohio. I left my notes with the other codes at home this morning.
p diddy: Touch the screen to start.You'll see "enter promo code" key-lower left corner- and press it.Type in the code and enter.If code works,the screen opens up to the movie list-in alphabetical order. If code doesn't take,it'll be a red screen saying "Sorry,code is no longer valid".
If the screen accepts the code,make sure when you check out,it says $0 for rental charges.Once in a while,it'll still show $1.07 for me. Usually 1 code works per 1 card. 4 different cards,4 free rentals. Takes longer,but the price is right.

I see pending $1 transactions on my card too, but it usually disappears after I have received the receipt from Redbox (whenever I choose to get a receipt via email). Also, at times when I choose not to have a receipt, I just see it disappear in the pending charges of my credit card and they never bill me.

2. LOOK AT THE CODE HISTORY AND SUCCESS RATE.
3. JUST REMEMBER TO RENT ONE MOVIE WITH CODE. YOU CAN USED THE SAME CODE MORE THAN ONCE IF YOU HAVE MORE CREDIT CARDS.
4. MAKE SURE THE CODE YOU PICKED HAS NOT BEEN USED ALREADY BY YOURSELF.

@ BOB, Redbox tracks credit card, not email address. It doesn’t matter you put the email address or not, most codes can be used only once per credit card.

I was wondering whether any one tried this website and signed up for their offers in order to get the Free HDTV and any other test panel items. They claim that they will send 3 free products in 90 days.
My question is, whether site is legitimate and whether they fulfil their product promises, after signing up the two offers.

With these bogus perverted codes like the one listed as F*** You,people like myself may not be actually testing them out,but listing them as invallid to get them below that 33% and then they'll disappear from the board.
I helped get rid of a couple the last 2 days,something about INDAB*** and others can help out on ridding the FU bogus code..
Michael: If you don't like that route I take by maring Invallid to eliminate those perverted bogus codes,post back and I'll stop.

In the next update of the codes system, I will be implementing moderation for all new codes that are entered. This means they will not show up at all until a moderator or myself approves the code for display. This will completely eliminate spam-type codes.
Because of this, I will need to have a few volunteers to become moderators for the system to help me stay on top of things.
Also, the entry of spam codes into the system will result in the banning of the offending user from the site.
Thanks everyone for your help in keeping this problem as minimal as possible by marking the offending codes as "failed" until this new system is in place.

I used a code for the first time today.
Is it okay to use more than one code with the same credit card on the same day?
I used MILLER & DVDONME with same credit card on the same visit. It worked fine, but now I'm thinking perhaps it is one code per card per day.
Any help would be appreciated.

No problem - you can use 1 code per 1 card!
But you always start with REDBOX - this code only works if the card has never been used.
After using REDBOX - you can use DVDONME and BREAKROOM - those are valid always, never expire.
Then you can use Free Monday and Wednesday codes and other codes which are coming up on this board (most are valid for a short period of time; some are valid only at specific locations, like only at Walgreens, etc).

Was the charge exactly 1.00 or 1+tax? If it's exactly 1.00 then rest assured it will come off in a few days. They will always do a 1.00 authorization to be sure it is a legitimate charge card.

I've never had anyone turn a free code down though.
I always offer one when I feel I've taken too long (testing codes ;) ) or when I teach someone how to use redbox. I've taught so many people how to use redbox over the past few months.

- to color backgrounds for expired codes in color
- to color backgrounds for "valid-in-certain-stores" codes in blue color
- green - would be general valid anywhere codes
- yellow - anything else you like
ALSO - I would create an extra Field and extra Column calling where valid. So if it's working, you would pick "Working" and then field "anywhere", "only at mcdonalds", etc.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have considered adding some new background colors and a key for them. I'll look more closely at that.
There is already a field for saying where the code was used, which serves pretty effectively for finding location-only codes. Since most users will not know a code is only for a specific location, I don't think have a separate menu for that would help.
If you do know more details about a code (like where it works or when it expires) please leave it as a comment and I will update the system.

So ive been using one of these free code when i signed up this morning then i entered 2 other free codes, and it worked, but the question that is really concerning me is, would i get caught for entering like 2 codes on the same cc in 1 day or so, or it wouldnt matter.

I too am new to this free codes thing...So my question is this, can you used more then one code at a time so that you don't have to swipe your credit card more than once.
I mean I don't want to have to swipe my card more then once because there are usually several people waiting to rent or return movies behind me and I don't like holding up the line if I don't have to. So I just want to know if there is a way to order all the movies I want with different free codes but only swipe once. Thank you for helping me out.

while "breakroom" and "miller" type codes worked like a charm for me, the monday/wednesday codes NEVER work for me... I live in Illinois and go to Jewel/Osco to rent my movies. Does anyone have any idea why those codes never work for me.
Also, I finally got one email from redbox giving me a code, but none since that first email. I still do not recieve texts (which I signed up for several times) or any emails to any of the email addresses that I've signed up with. Strange that I can recieve the confirmation emails from redbox with no issue but never a "freebie" code!

only problem i do have at redbox, is finding a movie i like. i have rented more movies i would never rent normally, just because i have a free code. guess this is kind of silly, but i figure, my total walk there and back will be over 2 miles, i'm going to rent something.
and because i have 4 credit cards, i rent 4 movies. i think i need an "Intervention".

In other words, if I use code BREAKROOM with a card week 1, and try to use BREAKROOM with the same card on week 2, will it warn me that the code has already been used with that card?

Why not just use this site's Code History system to keep track of the codes you use for you?
I see that you have an account and are signed in, so as long as you enter the codes you have used in the system, the "My Code History" link will tell you when and with what cards you have used the codes.
